Choose Fun over Stress!

There is no doubt about it, Parenting is a pretty major job. And when parents are working, managing a household, and maybe coping with financial pressures, kids sometimes can be incredibly demanding.

Your kids are a really good indicator of stress in the family. If the kids are playing up and fighting and being uncooperative then the odds are they are highlighting family stress.

Kids play up to get attention, and attention is exactly what they need! However, you don't want to be giving them negative attention because you end up feeling annoyed and frustrated, they play up even more and everyone feels miserable.

One of the best antidotes to stress is having fun. When life gets a bit overwhelming, taking time out to play with your kids or go for a walk together gives you great bonding time, and switches your attention away from the things that are worrying you.

Going on a picnic, pretending to be tourists for a day, going on a bike ride, scavenging down the beach, building a snowman, building a cubby house inside and having a picnic in it, are all some silly fun things to do that don't cost anything but your time.

And your time and attention is the best gift you can give your kids. You are teaching them how to manage stress by modeling how to turn your attention away from life's challenges and build positive energy in the family.

Wishing you HEAPS of fun with your Children!

Great Tip!
by: Jill R.

When the children in your family are stressed and acting up, it can cause a lot of tension in the home and that's when families can pull apart. Spending more time together is probably one of the last things they want to do when tensions are high. But, you are so right about this!

Often, spending more time together doing something fun and enjoyable can relieve stress for the whole family and bring them closer together.

Thanks for the great tip Annie!
