It's the little things

by Anonymous

Our boss nitpicks and focuses on the small stuff and never addresses major problems in the office. One day our boss got rid of our regular coffee maker and purchased one that uses the expensive k-cups in the fancy flavors. I rarely drink coffee at work, not more than one cup a month. All the employees were using (not abusing) it to make either coffee, tea or hot cocoa.

Then the boss did the math and realized how much in a year it was going to cost. So we were informed that the coffee is for visitors only. The boss got rid of the regular coffee maker and supplies. So what are the employees suppose to drink? Its just a hundred of little things that our boss does that drives us crazy. Why didn't we just keep the Mr. Coffee machine and saved money from the beginning. But the boss spent money on the fancy coffee maker, with a pretty little organizer to hold the large variety of k-cups and none of the employees are allowed to have any.

It IS the little things :)
by: Jill R.

I couldn't agree more. I was actually having a conversation the other day about how important the little things are to employees. When we're giving up time with our families to work hard for these companies so that we can pay our bills, YES, the little things matter.

And I have to say, that some employers (including one of my current ones) are good at giving and doing little things to let us know that we're appreciated. So here's to hoping that you get that experience some day... whether it be from your current boss or some boss you may have in the future.

In the meantime, recognize that you need to give yourself some of those little things and find some spare moments to relax and de-stress.

All the best,
Jill R.
