This type of meditation was introduced by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1958. It's simple technique appeals to beginners, but like many other types of mediation, the difficulty will depend on your ability to relax and concentrate.
Transcendental Meditation (or TM) has shown to improve physical and mental health, and can even increase creativity. It creates a deep level of relaxation that brings a sense of peacefulness and clarity.
TM is also thought to be the most effective type of meditation to relieve stress.

TM is best learned through a trained Transcendental Meditation Teacher. This type of mediation is done sitting in a chair while you listen to an audio that has a relaxing vibrational effect.
Relaxing and listening to this sound will have you deeply relaxed with a quiet mind in no time. You'll be awake, but you'll be in a state that is silent and relaxing. Experiencing this level of relaxation through Transcendental Meditation is often said to be more beneficial than sleep.
Afterward, you'll feel energized and refreshed as if you just had the most amazing nap.
It is suggested that TM be practiced for ten to twenty minutes at a time and sometimes even twice per day to see great and long lasting benefits.
