Write ESL Books

Well, I have been running my own institute of Foreign languages for 8 years, but I have been in business for over 17 years and I am really good at teaching English. But running a business is another thing!

I am tired of encountering different type of clients and adjusting my wills to theirs. I am tired of paying big bills every month. I would like instead to write ESL books, be able to stay home for a change! I know that this might be difficult with many undesirable consequences. One might be not to earn so much money and the other, is about my mother who thinks that only as a business woman I can accomplish great benefits. She might actually be right in her reasoning, but I feel it's time for me to move on. But I am scared! What shall I do?

Take some steps...

Hi Angeliki,

In today's world with all that the internet offers, it seems to me that if you have the desire and the will, all you need is time.

If you have the time and the desire, it's more than possible to write your ESL books and self-publish them online or as e-books... and keep your current job for income. This way you can feed your passion but still pay your bills.

However, I must be honest, going this route is exhausting :) I run this website, help others with their stress management goals, and constantly work on creating stress management products.... but I still have my "day" job as well. Actually, I have two other jobs :)

So while I do sometimes have to deal with being completely mentally and physically exhausted, it's all worth it. I LOVE doing what I do and I know from personal experience that ignoring your passions can lead to stress and anxiety.

So I would suggest finding ways to write your ESL books... or at least begin to without taking the leap to make it your only source of income until you're ready.
