Yoga for Diabetes

Using Yoga for Diabetes

Yoga is an excellent exercise that promotes overall mind and body wellness. It brings a sense of calm and well-being. It is often used for stress and weight management.

Diabetes is a condition where the body does not use or produce insulin, which is the hormone that converts sugar and other starches into energy. Diabetes can be caused by natural, genetic factors, however, it can also be caused by stress, poor diet, obesity, and lack of exercise which is why yoga may be the perfect therapy and treatment for people with diabetes.

With proper exercise, a healthy diet, and stress management diabetes can be prevented or even reversed. However, for people who are overweight or have poor eating habits, and stressful lives, it can be difficult to get into a program and stick with it.

Why Yoga May Be Right for You

We've already established that yoga can help to manage your weight, stress, and overall health. But starting a new program, making lifestyle changes, and maintaining these things can be difficult. So why might yoga be the right choice to help you get a jump start?

There are many different types of yoga. And while it is still a "work-out" you can choose a program that is low-intensity. And all yoga is low-impact so it won't put additional pressure on your already stressed joints. In fact, it will help to open up your joints, hips, groin, and other areas. It can relieve tension in your back and shoulders as well as every other part of your body.

In addition, yoga is extremely relaxing. It creates a calming effect that can help you to become centered for maybe the first time in your life. It can help you manage your stress and give you an overall sense of a healthy mind and body.

A great choice to begin with is the Mayo Clinic Wellness Solutions for Type Two Diabetesicon which includes relaxation and meditation exercises guided by yoga expert Rodney Yee.

With the guidance of expert Rodney Yee, you'll be on your way to better health in no time... and have fun doing it.

Enjoy!
