Learning the benefits of meditation

Meditation is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to relieve stress. As far as I can tell, the reason for that is due to its effectiveness in initiating a relaxation response and ultimately relieving stress and anxiety.

However, stress and anxiety relief are only two of many benefits that you can get from practicing meditation. In fact there are many other mental and physical benefits.

Even if you aren't able to fully relax and reach a deep meditative state, many of the benefits can be attained and be improved upon simply through the practice.

For example, increased concentration is a benefit of meditation. However, when first beginning meditation, it can be difficult for some people due to their difficulty with concentration. But with consistent practice, this can be improved not only for the sake of the meditative session, but for all areas of your life.
